Fun tips on what to wear at your session!

“What should we wear?” That must be the most common question I hear before a session. And it’s a great question! I think the most important advice I can give is to stay true to who you are. If you love funky clothes and textures, wear them! If you prefer the classic, simple look, stick to it. Just try to avoid logos as they detract from the subject and can “date” an image. Your family doesn’t need to match perfectly, but keeping within the same color tones can be helpful. Most importantly, be comfortable!

These suggestions are just that….suggestions! They are just a guide in case you feel stuck.

This family is simply beautiful. AND she is a photographer! I really enjoyed meeting Jaimie and her family….she is one of those people that makes you feel at ease right away. I love the image of Jaimie and her husband kissing with their little boy’s smile beneath their faces. Makes me happy!

The “ZM” family

This family was so flexible and easy going. Let me just do what I wanted. The little girl was pretty in pink! I loved her energy!

Seniors!! I want ‘em!

I have decided to add more focus on photographing seniors. They are at such an interesting time in their lives. So much to look forward to! The whole world is theirs. I still remember how I felt as a senior in high school and I think that is why I am excited to capture these moments that pass too quickly.

This beautiful girl is actually a junior and is going to be my rep. She is the daughter of a great friend. I am so lucky!

These little cuties were so great! They were the last family and probably waited a long time to have their photographs taken. They couldn’t have been sweeter!

These kids are so loveable!  By the time we got to their mini-session the sun was getting high and it was getting HOT.  We tried to find some shade and back lighting to keep the squinting down to a bare minimum but it was tough.  These guys did so well despite our hurdles!  Such faces!

Oh, my.  Sometimes things don’t go exactly according to plan.   Just look at the eldest who has had enough!  I have to say that this is one of my favorite images from the day because it is so true to the moment!   You can’t help but laugh when you look at this!  I am not sure I was able to get too many “keepers” for this family in our mini-session, but to me this one is the star!

  • About Jennifer Shore Photography

  • As long as I can remember, I have loved being connected to kids. I always knew that I would have a life working with children in some form. Since my other big interest has been human behavior, I ended up with a formal education in Child Development / Family Relations and a master's degree in clinical social work. As a school therapist for children with emotional and behavioral special needs, it was still possible for me to see beauty in even the most difficult and disturbed child. Luckily right around the time I was doing this work, I was also exploring my other favorite interest, photography.

One day I decided to bring a camera into work. The results were amazing. The children loved to see themselves in photographs and I LOVED to take pictures of them. With the help of my photography teacher and best friend, photographer Andrew Xenios, I ended up having an exhibition of the kids I worked with. The pictures seemed to capture the essence of each person; even the most troubled child was still beautiful. From there, it was just a natural progression to become a portrait photographer.

The fact that I am just a big kid myself has helped me gain a wonderful perspective on children and their families. Photographing children provides me with the opportunity to show others the joy I see inside every one of them. This is what I want for my clients, to capture the moments when they feel most childlike, most at ease; as these are the moments when our true beauty is revealed.
